Over the past 15 years, we have mobilized 150 delegates to participate in overseas humanitarian work in 20 countries/regions, including China, Indonesia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Gaza, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, South Sudan, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Liberia, Greece, and Haiti. Participating staff and volunteers came from a variety of professional backgrounds, including medicine, nursing, public health, electrical & civil engineering, mental health, disaster relief, and communications. We aim to provide our professional volunteers with ongoing training and the necessary equipment to respond to complex and changing humanitarian crises.

Professional volunteers face numerous challenges in disaster-stricken areas, including limited resources and rapidly changing situations. Our volunteer, Dr. Kwong, recounted how the "Health Emergency Response Unit" training course has enabled her to carry out humanitarian relief work more effectively. The training program included basic disaster management, basic concepts of emergency medical services, and personal security and participants can learn to set up mobile clinics and receive patients through a simulation exercise. Dr. Kwong participated in the emergency medical service in Nepal Earthquake operation in 2015, and in July 2023, she was deployed to onboard the rescue ship, Ocean Viking, to provide offshore emergency medical service to over 600 displaced people within a mere 48 hours on the Central Mediterranean Sea.
